OUR JAG PROGRAM MODELS
Developing Missouri's workforce
The overarching purpose of the JAG-Missouri program is to provide participants with classroom and work-based learning experiences that result in a quality job, leading to a fulfilling career after graduation.
JAG-Missouri provides an effective “Future Ready” strategy to strengthen education systems by serving youth needing additional assistance in completing a secondary education, pursuing post-secondary education or training, and/or entering the workforce in a quality job leading to a career.
JAG-Missouri has proven to be a cost-effective and successful program by increasing:
- Graduation Rates
- Academic Performance
- Attendance
- Job Placement
- Continued Education/Training
The JAG Advantage
This national three-pillar strategy is recognized as a model program by the National Dropout Prevention Center.
- Project-Based Learning (PBL) is an engaging and interactive way for students to choose topics that interest them and complete related activities that build their skillset. Examples include: financial literacy, employability and soft skills, build-your-own restaurant and volunteerism.
- Trauma-Informed Care includes environmental and emotional methods that help students feel safe, open and relaxed. From non-traditional seating options to warm lighting, daily affirmations and special gestures, this is a key strategy that improves learning, participation and excitement.
- Employer Engagement is the bridge between the classroom and workplace. Students apply their learnings and soft skills to discover, plan and prepare for a career that they’re passionate about.
Program Types
Middle School
The primary mission of the Middle School Program is to help 6th through 8th graders to transition more successfully from middle to high school. Specialists will provide an array of counseling, skills development, career association, and experiential learning experiences that will improve their academic performance, school behavior, attendance, confidence, participation and self-esteem. Middle School participants will improve their skills in leading and being an effective member of a team.
Multi-Year Program
A JAG Multi-Year Program focuses on 35-60 high school students who are at risk of dropping out of school and/or failing to successfully transition into the workplace graduate and gain admittance into postsecondary education, the workforce and/or the military. Our multi-year programs provide employability and life survival skills through classroom instruction based on JAG’s high school competencies.
Alternative School
The Alternative Education Programs operate similarly to the High School Program, except the students served are less likely to succeed in a traditional high school program. Usually, a Specialist will work with 25-35 students due to the individual counseling and support services required by an alternative education participant.
